Super Rooster Sampler Preview

Here's some "promotional art" for the Super Rooster sampler (which I'm still writing). Here we have the Weasel with a flaming wand of some sort. More information on the story soon!

Random Sketch: Mort

It's the big, lovable rock monster Mort! Originally created by Joey Han, I've been doodling this guy for a while to prepare for the next Rabbit and Robot comic.

Rabbit and Robot #10

It may have taken three weeks, but it's here! Joey Han's tenth installment of the improvised Rabbit and Robot series! (It's pretty big; you might want to open it in another tab to read it.)

Final Delay

Alright! The tenth Rabbit and Robot comic is complete! It will be published next sunday!

For now, lets talk about Quebec. If there's one thing I can tell you, it's a long drive. My friend Zack and I got pretty bored, if you can tell by these comics we drew on the way home:

Random Sketch: Doctor Who

For today's random sketch, we have the Eleventh Doctor!
Now, I've decided that the Rabbit and Robot comic will be posted next Sunday. Both Joey and I will be too busy to get it finished any earlier, because we (and most of our Seventh Grade) will be going to Quebec!

Yeah, that's right. Quebec. I admit, it's not as random as going to Puerto Rico, but it's still very far away.

Most unfortunately, I'm missing MeCAF, my local comic convention. I hope those of you who live nearby will go, because it's a fantastic event, and special guest Kazu Kibuishi will be there!

I'll be back on Sunday with the Rabbit and Robot comic! For now, au revoir!

Rabbit and Robot Delayed

Due to some technical difficulties (a major ink spill), this week's Rabbit and Robot comic will be postponed to later this week (hopefully tomorrow), though I may end up using it as next week's comic. Joey apologizes for the inconvenience.

For now, here's a random Super Rooster sketch:

Oh, yeah, and here's my new pencil holder that I made in art class:

Random Sketch: Bear

Hey, everybody. This weekend I'll be going camping, so I decided to draw a Bear (click to enlarge).

I won't be able to do this week's Rabbit and Robot comic, so I've asked my good friend Joey Han to do it! Can't wait to see how he adds to the story!
I've started on the script for my new Super Rooster short story. I hope to finish it soon, so I can actually start drawing comics, but...

Anyway, I'm excited to say that Chris Giarrusso posted that G-Man sketch on his blog today! I am a happy cartoonist. See you next Sunday!

A Quick Change of Plans…

Hello, everyone. I've just made a big, important decision. While I'll still be working on the Super Rooster script, I'm going to be focussing more on a separate short Super Rooster story.

See, it's not easy to find a publisher for a 13-year-old. My plan is to visit my local comic shop and show them the small "Sample Story" of Super Rooster (which I'll probably finish sometime this Summer). As legend goes, local comic stores like to sell local comics. So, if they like the short story, perhaps they could sell the new Super Rooster comics!

If that doesn't work, then I'll be going on a mad hunt for Small Press publishers. If by miracle one of them likes the story, then I'll have myself a publisher!

But if all else fails, I shall resort to using an online publishing service, or maybe I could sell the comics at the iBookstore, or for Kindle or Nook, or something, but that will never beat the wonderfulness of real, paper books.

Well, now it's time to start a whole new Super Rooster script. Ideas, anyone?

Rabbit and Robot #9

Here's the ninth installment of the improvised series! Are you new to the story? You can read all of the Rabbit and Robot posts here.

Today I'm going to tell you how I go about creating these comics. As it is an improvised comic, the first step is to simply sit at my desk, dip a nib pen into a bottle of ink, and start drawing. I use india ink on a sheet of Staples Heavyweight Printing Paper (I only use Bristol board for big projects, like Super Rooster). I don't even use pencils. I just start inking.

The next step is coloring. I scan the drawing to my computer, then use Corel Painter to start coloring. I also use the program to erase any mistakes, like that messed up "D" in the second panel. When I'm done, I save the file, and post it on my blog.

Random Sketch: Hulk and Thor

In preparation for the Avengers movie tomorrow, it's Hulk and Thor! Why they're playing chess while the evil Loki's running out committing evil demigod deeds, I'm not sure.
