Rabbit and Robot #4

Sorry about last week, but here it is! The fourth installment of the improv comic Rabbit and Robot!

Just how improvised is it, though? Well, let's put it this way. When I took out a blank piece of paper, I asked myself "What the heck does the Burrowing Animal Association do, anyway?" So I made Rabbit ask the groundhog. The groundhog said the first word that came into my mind: "Anti-Predator". But wait - in the last comic I had a fox working with them, so that wouldn't make sense! So that fifth panel, that's me trying to think of an answer. I couldn't think of one, so I had a giant fist come and smash the desk in half. Then I thought it would be cool if the fist was made of the ground!

This comic just gets stranger and stranger.

Rabbit and Robot Delay

I was busy last week, and went camping from Friday to Sunday, so I couldn't make a Rabbit and Robot comic for yesterday. Sorry about that.

But don't worry! Rabbit and Robot #4 will be coming next Sunday! For now, here's a new little Super Rooster poster. Let's call him... Rooster America? Captain Barnyard? Well, never mind.

From the Archives: Moogie and Snat

For this week's From the Archives, I've got Moogie and Snat, a comic strip I created in 2008. The strip was about Moogie the cat and Snat the mouse, two best friends who lived in a city with many other street animals. They became friends when Snat saved Moogie from being hit by a car. Soon, Moogie's cat friends came to see him as a lunatic.

Here are a couple pages from the book:

In fourth grade, children's book illustrator Scott Nash visited our school. I got to meet him personally, thanks to my math teacher, and showed him a "portfolio" of my stuff. The portfolio contained several bad sketches, a colored pencil drawing of a construction scene, and this book, Moogie and Snat. Now, if I were him, seeing this book would be kind of freaky. But he complimented me and gave me some suggestions.

Come back next week for the next From the Archives!

Rabbit and Robot #3

Here is the third installment of the Rabbit and Robot series (click to enlarge). I think I did a far better job coloring here than I did the last one.

From the Archives: Johnny Bunjitsu

Introducing From the Archives: The weekly blog post where I pull out a comic from my old filing cabinet for you to enjoy!

This week we have Johnny Bunjitsu, a comic I kind of started in Spring 2011 when first learning to use a nib pen. As you can see from the pages below, I wasn't so great at it then (or now, really). The comic was about Johnny the rabbit and his friend Ram the ram, who learned the art of Ninjitsu from their sensei, Mows. Here are a couple pages from the story.

Rabbit and Robot #2

Here is the second installment of the improvised Rabbit and Robot series (click to enlarge):

Why did the giant robot take him there? What is the B.A.A.A.? Looks like we'll both find out next sunday!

Character Development

When designing characters, a lot of cartoonists draw neat character model sheets. Or at least draw the character over and over in different positions. Mine get kind of weird.

Here's a page I did last night for Super Rooster (click to enlarge):
What does this say about me? Let's just say I have a "special" mind.

There's gonna be a new Rabbit and Robot tomorrow, so stay tuned!
